Constraints

  • Modular backend services supporting clinical-research operations and internal workflows.
  • Integration work had to account for access control, operational continuity and maintainability.
  • The work spanned application code, infrastructure and production support boundaries.

What I owned

  • Developed backend microservices in Java, Node.js and Python.
  • Implemented serverless application components on AWS Lambda.
  • Contributed frontend work with Next.js, React and Vue.js where needed.
  • Supported release pipelines and operational troubleshooting for deployed services.

Engineering decisions

  • Serverless and event-oriented service patterns.
  • Mixed-language backend work across Node.js, Python and Java/Spring Boot.
  • Cloud-native delivery with Git-based collaboration and pipeline automation.
  • Close collaboration with platform and support responsibilities.

Outcome

  • Delivered backend and integration components that could move through the same controlled release and support paths as the surrounding platform.
  • Reduced the boundary between application, cloud and operational work by treating them as one maintained production system.
